New Castle county councilman David Tackett is concerned about Delawareans. He posted an alert today on his Facebook page with the following:
"Crime Alert
Residents Reminded to Lock Car Doors, Don’t Leave Vehicles Running Unattended and Always Secure Weapons Appropriately
Since November 1st, 2015, The New Castle County Police have taken a total of 91 stolen vehicle reports. Of those taken, 29 of them were left running, unsecured, and with the keys in the ignition. Many of the incidents involving running vehicles are crimes of opportunity for a passerby. We would like to remind all residents not to leave your running vehicle unattended or invest in an aftermarket remote starter that leaves your vehicle secured while it’s warming up. Don’t make it easy for a thief. An educational video can be seen on the NCCPD Facebook page or on YouTube."
