The founder of DNN has been hit with credit card fraud early this year. Online scammers used "the dark web" to data mine information and fraudulently retrieve a credit card number. From there, the credit card scammers successfully retrieve the credit card number and need in on line purchase at Macy's.com in Hicksville, New York. Item the credit card scammers purchased was the Tommy Hilfiger winter sport coat parka jacket with fur on the hood.
The point where the credit card scammers slipped up is not only did they allegedly have a Macy's account prior to purchasing the Tommy Hilfiger winter jacket with the founders credit card number, but they also used a Macy's $10 off coupon to bring down the price of the jacket and have the receipt of the online purchase made at Macy's in Hicksville, New York sent to the founders of DNN's personal e-mail address, catching the fraud in time to notify the credit card company and Macy's to cancel the purchase immediately.
Thankfully, the online fraud was caught in time whereas the item wasn't sent, Macy's was notified in due time, and the credit card company also caught the fraud in time whereas the founder wasn't responsible for the fraudulent online purchase.
The fraud was reported to DSP, as State Police informed the founder of DNN that charges are not worth pressing because it's a bank issue and they have insurance to cover it, and it's best to let the credit card company-bank handle the matter.
A re you also a victim of credit card fraud? If so, it's a good idea to keep a close eye on your credit report. Most credit card companies today have an in-house option in your credit card dashboard to click a blue hyperlink and you your credit score that opens in a new browser window. If you don't have that option provided to you by your credit card company, you can open up an account on Experian.com, TransUnion.com, or Equifax.com and for a small fee, have the company monitor your credit report and putting a lock on credit inquiries, preventing anyone from the dark Web or anywhere from viewing your information unlawfully.
