This is a follow up post from 2014 on "best Delaware fishing spots"...

Whatever you do, don't bother with Beck's pond in Newark, Delaware. You're wasting your time if you do. Even if you start your early fishing stint at four or five o'clock in the morning at Beck's, it's not worth it. Instead, it's wise to take a trip further south in the state of Delaware toward Kent and Sussex County catch quality fish. And meatier ones too.

Shortlist of best places in Kent and Sussex counties to fish:

    1. Garrisons Lake (Kent County) -

If you have a boat or not, this is definitely a good spot. You want to have nightcrawlers or yellowish looking worms as bait, and be on the walkway deck as early as 5 AM. If you have fake worms that's okay. Rumor has it that you can purchase a box of 400 fake worms at Cabelas.com by Christiana Mall for as little as $20. A young man was witnessed placing a fake worm on a whole after talking and showing a picture of bass on his cell phone and catching a live one less than 3 min. after discussing it. Garrisons Lake is definitely worth your time.

    2. Silver Lake (Dover) - this spot is good for people who have a boat. The entrance to the park provides a smooth Avenue for people who own small boats to smoothly sail on the water and cast their lines in hopes of catching bass or catfish. It's better to throw the line downstream if you're standing inside the skinny walkway fence , because water going downstream attracts the catfish and others to bite faster.

    3. Lums Pond (State Park) - An excellent place for fishing. Be sure to park near the water, as it'll be easier for you haul your fresh catch back to your vehicle after enjoying your stint on the water fishing.

    4. Lewes, Delaware (Sussex County) -

Rumor has it there's five newly built fishing piers available for people to go fishing absolutely free. That said, it's time to visit your local bait shop or take a stop by Walmart.com to pick up some cheap nightcrawlers and fake worms in hopes of potentially catching striped bass, bluefish, and perhaps flounder.

    5. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware (Sussex County) -

Rehoboth beach is the ideal spot for anyone to go fishing anytime of the day. Always check and be mindful of laws posted on signs when the local Park or Lake closes. If a sign says park closed at sunset or dusk, always respect that and cease from fishing until sunrise. If you're coming from New Castle County, you may want to fuel up for taking the 80+ mile trip south "down yonder."

    Happy fishing.
